The first Calgary Stampede was held in 1912, but the event known as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth has exploded in growth, attracting nearly 1.5 million people last year.

The Calgary Stampede, an event that started more than 100 years ago, has grown into one of the world’s most popular rodeos and a reflection of Western Canada’s culture.

Calgary Transit is offering 24-hour CTrain service and two express Stampede routes during the festival. But during the parade, many routes that travel downtown will be on detour.
