Brentwood, a suburb just outside of St. Louis, is among the best beacons of suburb living in the entire nation, according to a new ranking by Travel + Leisure magazine.

Called for are 184,331 square feet of retail space, 120,000 square feet of office space, 660 apartments, 130 hotel rooms and 30 condominiums.

Concern Housing, a nonprofit housing developer, has reached a deal with the Sisters of St. Joseph to convert the former Academy of St. Joseph in Brentwood into 140 affordable apartments.
