A 400-pound, 17-year-old gorilla named Harambe, was shot and killed after a 3-year-old boy fell into the gorilla enclosure at Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden on May 28, 2016.

In 1996, a 3-year-old boy tumbled 24 feet into a gorilla enclosure at an Illinois zoo. Then, a Western Lowland Gorilla named Binti Jua rescued him.
