White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Goes deep twice in loss
Benintendi went 2-for-4 with two homers and four RBI in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Cubs. The veteran outfielder opened his team's scoring with a solo shot off Cubs starter Ben Brown in the first. Benintendi then returned in the eighth to slug a three-run long ball off reliever Ryan Brasier to notch his ninth career multi-homer performance.
Cubs have given Ben Brown enough chances. Through his first six appearances of the season, Brown has posted a 6.04 ERA in 25.1 innings of work.
Brown threw a 98.8 mph fastball in the second inning, the highest velocity of his big-league career. “Ben can go toe-to-toe stuff-wise with anybody,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Saturday.
