President Donald Trump is using his love of tariffs to threaten high-profile American companies. Over the past month, Trump has said he’d like to target two specific and very different companies – Apple and Mattel – with tariffs aimed at their key products over comments by their CEOs.

Apple increased its exports of iPhones from India to the United States in April, with industry data showing a 76 percent increase compared to previous months. The jump came amid President Donald Trump's threats of a 25 percent tariff on iPhones made outside the U.

Per Reuters, Apple has been stepping up some parts of iPhone production in India, as China faces much higher tariffs from the U.S. Speaking to reporters later in the Oval Office, Trump suggested that other companies like Samsung “and anybody that makes that product. Otherwise it wouldn’t be fair.”
