The Jackson Police Department has released new information about a suspect and person of interest involved in a Wednesday, July 9, mass shootout in the Brookhollow neighborhood.

Authorities have captured another suspect in connection to the Downtown Jackson mass shooting that followed the St. Paddy's Parade in March 2025.

"I'm not afraid to use my voice,” Jackson said about cases in which she wrote separate dissents.

Ongoing sewage leaks and overflows have kept the Pearl River and tributaries in and near Jackson under a water contact advisory for six years.

Jackson police arrested an 18-year-old and are searching for four more suspects after 100 rounds of ammo was fired in the Brookhollow neighborhood.
