This election cycle, AI-generated images have proliferated on social media platforms after politically charged news events. They often spread partisan narratives rather than facts.

And AI-generated images – from diagrams to microscopy imagery – are increasingly difficult to identify. Specialists are concerned about "a torrent of faked science" as a result, said Nature.

With my understanding of how people process images and notice -− or don't notice -− detail, it's not surprising to me that people aren't tuning in to the fact that many images are AI-generated.
