According to Bloomberg, Microsoft’s Stockholm-based King division, famous for Candy Crush, is laying off 10 percent of its staff, representing roughly 200 jobs. While some other European gaming offices are also cutting, US units are reportedly being informed later Wednesday.

Microsoft has reportedly cancelled Everwild, an in-development game from UK-based Sea of Thieves developer Rare, and potentially other projects amid a round of layoffs that will see the company lose upwards of 9000 employees.

The new round of layoffs is Microsoft’s deepest single cut to its workforce since 2023, when it eliminated 10,000 jobs. Microsoft’s 2025 layoffs together have eclipsed that number, with 15,000 employees losing their jobs this year so far.
