New Wales rugby union head coach Steve Tandy believes he will have the talent at his disposal to meet the ambitious target of a return to the world's top five sides.Tandy becomes the first Welshman to coach the national side since 2007 when Wales have slipped to 12th in the world rankings and had lost 17 successive matches before beating Japan last month in the final game of Matt Sherratt's interim reign.

New head coach Steve Tandy has said Wales must show ambition to restore national pride after sliding down the world order.

Asked if he was ready to be a figurehead and play a leading role in turning around Welsh rugby's fortunes, Tandy said: "It does change, you have to lead. I will do that in my own way but you also have to grow people and connect them.
