Former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman were laid to rest at a private funeral on Saturday, weeks after the two were killed in what authorities have called a "politically motivated assassination.

Hortman was fatally shot two weeks earlier by a man posing as a police officer in an attack that Minnesota’s chief federal prosecutor has called an assassination.
