The Tigrai Independence Party (TIP) has denied involvement in a newly announced political alliance unveiled by Lt. Gen. Tsadkan Gebretensae, which he said aims to bring political change in Tigray.Lt.

Gen Tsadkan was intent on advancing towards the Eritrean capital Asmara, but Prime Minister Meles called a halt, saying that Ethiopia's war aims had been achieved and Eritrea was now humbled.

Tsadkan went into business, setting up a brewery and a horticultural company in Tigray. He was also named to the board of several major firms, including Ethiopian Shipping Lines and Lion Bank.

Tigray’s negotiation team includes TPLF spokesman Getachew Reda, and General Tsadkan Gebretinsae, who are “ready to be deployed without delay,” the statement added.
