The Cincinnati Reds have acquired third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes from the Pittsburgh Pirates in advance of Thursday's Major League Baseball trade deadline, the teams announced Wednesday. In return the Pirates will receive lefty reliever Taylor Rogers and shortstop prospect Sammy Stafura and cash.

The Reds made small improvements at the margins without giving up any key prospects who were set to help them soon.

The Cincinnati Reds (53-50), now at two games back of the third National League Wild Card spot entering play of July 25, haven't made a move yet. It remains to be seen if and how the Reds might involve themselves in the trade-deadline activity.
