Newark Mayor Ras Baraka filed a lawsuit Tuesday against interim U.S. Attorney Alina Habba and a Department of Homeland Security investigator, alleging that Habba defamed him and they violated his constitutional rights when he was arrested at a federal immigration detention center earlier this month.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has sued New Jersey’s top federal prosecutor over his arrest outside a federal immigration detention facility on a trespassing charge, saying the Trump-appointed attorney had pursued the case out of political spite.

I want somebody to apologize, write a letter, say this was wrong, come out and say, ‘We shouldn’t have done this,’” Baraka said.
