Mat Ishbia, the owner of the Phoenix Suns, sent a strong message to Kevin Durant during his team’s Media Day, making it clear that the marriage between his franchise and the sharpshooting forward was destined to fail.

Phoenix acquired Durant from the Brooklyn Nets in February 2023. Several months later, the team traded for Bradley Beal. Durant and Beal's arrival formed a big three with franchise star Devin Booker. However, they struggled in two seasons together. They did not win a single playoff game and missed the playoffs last season.

ESPN has reported the Suns have offered forward Royce O'Neale and second-round draft picks for Kuminga, who they offered "around 90 million" for four years. But unless the Suns' offer improves, they are "highly unlikely" to land the 22-year-old, according to Amick.

With a new Phoenix Suns season approaching and a roster makeover complete, the dust has now fully settled to where we know what the organization will have at its disposal from an asset standpoint for the foreseeable future.

Durant spoke at the Game Plan Sports Business Summit last week about his final months with the Phoenix Suns, which culminated in a historic trade that saw him joining the Houston Rockets. According to Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic, KD said the Suns informed teams of his availability "around February."
