Oscar Piastri has won the Spanish Grand Prix ahead of McLaren teammate Lando Norris as McLaren continued its early dominance of the Formula 1 championship.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has detailed that Oscar Piastri had a role in the events that led to Max Verstappen ‘s race collapsing in Formula 1 ‘s Spanish Grand Prix. Verstappen was poised to come home third behind the McLarens in Barcelona until a Safety Car with 11 laps to go triggered chaos that saw him end up down in 10th.

It was a battle of the McLaren drivers across Formula One’s 2025 Spanish Grand Prix qualifying, with Oscar Piastri ultimately topping Lando Norris’ with purple sectors across the board on the final runs — eking a two-tenths of a second gap over his teammate.
