A man was shot and killed and a woman wounded in the emergency room of a Tacoma, Washington, hospital Wednesday evening, the city's police department says. A search is on for the shooter.

Tacoma police responded Wednesday evening to a shooting at MultiCare Allenmore Hospital in the city’s central area. Police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd confirmed the shooting took place just after 7 p.m. in the lobby of the emergency room.
