The suspect accused of fatally shooting four people at a Montana bar and who remains at large struggled with mental health issues, but was denied services from agencies that were supposed to help, according to his niece.

Four people are dead after a shooter opened fire at Anaconda’s Owl Bar at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 1, 2025, according to a press release from the Montana Department of Justice.

Many manhunts end quickly, but the man accused of killing four people in rural Montana appears to have disappeared into the kind of wilderness that helps elude pursuers.
