Marc Stein have had his say about a possible LeBron James departure from the LA Lakers, with the Knicks, Warriors, and Mavericks in running.
While the Knicks had no interest in trading for James and giving up a key player in the process, if the superstar simply wants a chance at winning, New York would certainly have to be near the top of James’ list. Stein also noted that the Knicks’ front office, led by Rose and William Wesley, already has ties to James.
LeBron James’ surprise appearance in France alongside Nikola Jokić’s agent Miško Ražnatović and longtime business partner Maverick Carter has reignited speculation about the NBA star’s post-Lakers future.
James’ agent Rich Paul announced in June that his client was exercising his 2025-26 player option, which is worth roughly $53 million. Furthermore, the Lakers have also embraced the idea of building the team around All-Star guard Luka Doncic, who is only 26, while James is 40.
If James wants to play beyond the upcoming season, the Mavericks, Warriors, Knicks, or even Cavaliers appear to be potential destinations.
