Swiftly rising floodwaters in Texas have killed at least four people and left communities reeling as the search continues for dozens of missing residents, including children from a summer camp. At least 51 people are dead statewide as of July 6, 2025, with Kerr County witnessing the most deaths.

Larry Leitha, the Kerr County Sheriff in Texas Hill Country, the epicenter of the catastrophic flooding in Texas, said on Sunday (July 6) that the death toll in Kerr County had reached 59, including the 21 children.

Hundreds of residents, campers and visitors were plucked to safety after the Guadalupe River rapidly swelled in Texas Hill Country with little warning.
