Hurricane Narda continued to churn in the waters of the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday, after the National Hurricane Center said on Tuesday that the system had reached Category 2 strength. Narda is the latest of several named systems to spawn in the Pacific so far this year, which includes, Alvin, Barbara, and Kiko.

The storm, the second Atlantic hurricane of the season, is approaching the Portuguese islands west of mainland Europe.

Storms Humberto and Gabrielle have formed, kicking off what’s shaping up to be a more active second half of the season.

Steering currents could bring Invest 93L close to North Carolina over the weekend. Expected impacts include winds, rain and dangerous surf.
