This past weekend saw two Japanese fighters, Shigetoshi Kotari and Hiromasa Urakawa, die from brain injuries sustained on the same August 2nd show in Tokyo. Kotari fought OPBF super featherweight champion Yamato Hata to a draw, while Urakawa suffered a TKO loss to Yoji Saito.

Tragedy struck Japanese boxing as two boxers, Shigetoshi Kotari and Hiromasa Urakawa, died after suffering head trauma in fights. The Japan Boxing Commission announced immediate safety reforms. OPBF title fights in Japan will now be limited to 10 rounds.
