The long-awaited sequel to the 1996 original Happy Gilmore was released on Netflix in July 2025, where it quickly rose to the No. 1 spot on the streamer’s Top 10 movies. The comedy takes place decades after the original, after Happy Gilmore ( Adam Sandler) experiences an unspeakable tragedy.

Adam Sandler paid tribute to his former on-screen son, the late Cameron Boyce, in his new movie “Happy Gilmore 2,” six years after Boyce died. After the comedy sequel was released on Netflix Friday, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Boyce, who starred as Sandler’s son in “Grown Ups,” appeared on a TV in the background of one scene.
