Beijing had evacuated more than 70,000 residents by Monday afternoon and warned others to brace for a new round of heavy rainfall, a week after catastrophic floods killed dozens in the deadliest deluge to hit the Chinese capital since 2012.

Beijing eased a severe weather alert on Tuesday but urged people to remain alert for natural disasters. More than 82,000 residents have been evacuated as authorities fear further deadly flooding

Chinese state media say that 30 people have died in heavy rains and flooding in and around Beijing, raising the death toll from the flooding in the region to 34.
