Smoke from Canadian Wildfires is creating poor air quality conditions across the QCA. An air quality alert is in effect until early Sunday morning. Matthew Snyder is an environmental specialist with the Iowa DNR and he said they’re most concerned about people who have pre-existing conditions that could make them more vulnerable to the air quality.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recommends that people avoid long or intense outdoor activities and take frequent breaks until the air quality improves. Sensitive groups include people with respiratory illness or heart disease, children, teenagers, and the elderly.
