Berkowitz dubbed himself the Son of Sam, a moniker he used to sign off his letters. He claimed the name was inspired by his neighbor's dog, with whom he had an ongoing dispute. He even alleged that demons communicated with him through the dog.

Netflix released new true crime series Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes on July 30 and it has already shot to the top of the streaming service's most-watched list.
