The Colorado attorney general is suing a sheriff's deputy for his role in the detention last month of a University of Utah student by federal immigration officials.

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser is suing a sheriff's deputy who Weiser says told ICE officials in an encrypted Signal chat to a woman who was allegedly in the U.S. on an expired visa, in violation of state law.
