A tornado hit a Florida television station while the network’s meteorologist warned viewers a twister was making its way through the area.

A tornado struck a TV station while the weatherman was doing a live broadcast showing the terrifying moment the system closed in. FOX 35 meteorologist Brooks Garner kept remarkably calm as an EF-2 tornado approached and hit the station in Lake Mary,

The tornado, later given an EF2 rating by the National Weather Service, was believed to have peak wind gusts to 115 mph, equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane.

The Seminole County Fire Department said a home in Longwood collapsed after "weather impacts." Others described it as a tornado.

A television meteorologist broadcast live on the air as a tornado hit his station's studio in Lake Mary, Florida, near Orlando. The meteorologist, Brooks Garner, warned employees to take shelter. Lights flickered during the broadcast and when it was all over Garner said he'd never experienced anything like that before.

Debris rained down outside as the meteorologist shouted: "Get under your desks, guys! Anchors—under your desks! Producers—everybody, get under your desks!"
