Greg McElroy raved about Alabama football's performance in its first scrimmage of fall camp. But he did have his share of concerns.

The former Alabama quarterback was "very impressed" with what he saw from Ty Simpson, Austin Mack and Keelon Russell on Saturday.

In the redshirt junior, who is one of three quarterbacks vying for the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback job, McElroy said he saw a passer who "looks very in control." Simpson made the "play of the day," finding Jam Miller downfield off a scramble for a touchdown.
