East Moline Police Sgt. William "Bill" Lind was one of 23 Illinois law enforcement officers to receive the Law Enforcement Medal of Honor during a ceremony Thursday in Springfield.

The Moline Fire Department responded around 9:44 p.m. to a residence in the 1200 block of 11th Ave. to investigate a report of fire, according to a news release from the department.

The Moline Club at 1530 Fifth Ave. in downtown Moline has undergone renovations and is now available to be rented for banquets, corporate events and weddings.

The 1% grocery tax has been administered by the state but the revenues went to the cities. Its elimination is leading to cities implementing their own 1% grocery taxes.
