Heat-index readings on Wednesday and Thursday could top 100 degrees in Winston-Salem, Greensboro and other areas in the region.

Haly Annabella Florez of Winston-Salem died at a local hospital where she was taken after she was injured, Winston-Salem police said in a news release and in its crash report.
