Hikers reported a "nuisance" bear in Madera Canyon in the Santa Rita Mountains three times since Friday, and Arizona Game and Fish officials are asking the public to be aware.

When his waving arms didn't seem to intimidate the cat, he said, he grabbed an 8-foot downed aspen limb and waved it in the air. The cat backed away and eventually lay down as he talked to it.
