Preliminary exam began for former Warren Police Officer James Burke, who is charged with two counts of homicide-manslaughter with a motor vehicle in deaths.

A preliminary investigation revealed both motorcyclists were riding north on Illinois Route 394 when one victim rear-ended the other, causing both to crash.

An autopsy Monday revealed he sustained multiple blunt force traumatic injuries and the manner of his death was determined to be from the crash, officials said.
