Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday defended the deployment of National Guardsmen and Marines to Los Angeles amid objections from Democrats about their domestic deployment. Protests continue in Los Angeles and other cities across the country in response to Trump's immigration crackdown.

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration has directed immigration officials to largely pause raids on farms, hotels, restaurants and meatpacking plants, according to an internal email reviewed by Reuters,
