The historic “Top Gun” house in Oceanside in San Diego’s North County is getting a makeover and may one day reopen as an ice cream shop.

Cruise met Top Gun director Tony Scott while working with Ridley Scott on Legend (1985). After agreeing to star in Top Gun, he negotiated a deal that let him closely follow the film’s development.

Cruise concluded his message by saying, "Thank you, Val. I wish you well on the next journey." Kilmer played rival Iceman to Cruise's fighter pilot Maverick in "Top Gun" in 1986.
