TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Spring is usually a busy season for Three Rivers. People from around the world stop and stay in the Tulare County town as they visit Sequoia National Park.

Three Rivers, California, was put under evacuation warning Sunday by the Castle Fire, part of the Sequoia Complex Fire in the Sequoia National Forest in Tulare County.

The fire, which was caused by a lightning strike on Aug. 3, is in an area six miles southeast of Three Rivers. As of Wednesday, Aug. 28, the fire had burned 4,552 acres, according to Cal Fire.

The looming threat to the Three Rivers area prompted Sequoia National Park officials to order “immediate” closure of the Generals Highway from Highway 198 in Three Rivers to the Giant Forest ...
