New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham hosted seven Democratic members of the Texas House of Representatives in the state capitol on Tuesday to discuss their Republican counterparts’ plans to redraw Texas’ congressional map during an overtime special legislative session.

The money could be used to cover the $500-a-day fines lawmakers would incur under House rules set to discourage members from absconding.

Texas Democrats are looking to break quorum to prevent a GOP redistricting plan, facing $500 daily fines and threats from the state attorney general.
