There have been numerous and varying versions of the rally towel, but the Steelers seem ready to upgrade and have announced a new Terrible Towel for 2025.

The Pittsburgh Steelers revealed on Thursday that the 50th anniversary Terrible Towel will drop on July 1 at 10 a.m EST. Only 5,000 towels were created, so it is a limited edition product.

The new Terrible Towel features a stitched “Est. December 27, 1975” badge, which commemorates its inception 50 years ago. Additionally, each limited edition towel is numbered 1 to 5000.

Myron Cope created the Terrible Towel on Dec. 27, 1975, and it has been part of Steelers' lore ever since. The Steelers (6-2) and Commanders (7-2) are set for a heavyweight battle on Sunday.
