The old Cane Creek School was reserved at Tannehill for the picnic/30th birthday celebration just in case rain joined the party. It was also a great place to take refuge from the August heat.
The state park is about 15 minutes from the Star City square. Its well-groomed grounds occupy about 2,100 acres at the transition zone where the Mississippi River Delta meets the Gulf Coastal Plain.
