The actual flag Key saw — the Star-Spangled Banner — is now housed in a climate-controlled, light-protected chamber at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
The glass case holding the flag wasn’t long enough to show the entire piece of fabric, so its lower half was folded up. It was only in 1964 that the public was able to view the flag in its entirety.
