Fortunately, there's a tool to put drywall on a ceiling the easy way. It's called a drywall lift. One major hardware store, Home Depot, has them for hire at around $60 per day.

The long length of drywall, 8 or 12 feet, is placed perpendicular to the run of wall studs or ceiling joists. Ceilings are always hung first. They’re the hardest pieces to do.
