OMAHA — A 15-year-old boy shot and killed near a Benson area middle school Tuesday morning was a student at Omaha Burke High School, Omaha Public Schools confirmed Wednesday.

Police in Northampton County have identified the 17-year-old boy who died near Freedom High School in Bethlehem Township, and say the incident is being treated as a criminal investigation.

Austin Metcalf, who died of his injuries April 2, was a junior at Frisco Memorial High School, where he participated in football and track.
