Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair and state Rep. Gene Wu, who sponsored the protest, said the demonstration would continue as planned on the Capitol grounds, which were set to close at 8 p.m.
The Texas State Capitol and grounds were evacuated at 1 p.m. local time Saturday due to the threat and remain temporarily closed. Texas DPS said that the evacuation was out of an abundance of caution.
