Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry had already stepped away from TNG's production due to his declining health, and he sadly passed away during production of TNG season 5, episode 11, "Hero Worship." ...

This is another high-concept episode of sorts, one that effectively melds Star Trek with a familiar horror sub-genre to great effect. It isn't all darkness and trauma, however.
