The University of St. Thomas’ institutional accreditation is up for renewal as the school grapples with a shakeup in its administrative ranks and six consecutive years of financial losses.

The University of St. Thomas opened in 1947 in the heart of the Montrose neighborhood in Houston. The 20-square-block, tree-lined school offers 40 undergraduate majors and 30 graduate degrees.

St. Thomas submitted an initial report to the ABA on Sept. 26, 2024. The ABA Council will review the submission during its quarterly meeting in November 2025.
