The Marauders (14-9-1-2) won the state title with 11 sophomores on their roster under new coach Jon Christiano, a 1977 St. Joe’s graduate and former Buffalo Sabres assistant.

The game was played June 14 at Szot Park in Chicopee. St. Joe had reached the state championship by beating Cardinal Spellman of Brockton 7-5, in the state semifinal game at Rockland's Legion Field.

St. Joe's faced Iona Prep in the New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association final and won its second consecutive state championship, 2-0.
