Now its headstones are being made into a memorial. The Jewish cemetery in Brest used to have tens of thousands of graves. Its headstones have been found in construction projects across the city.

Now, thanks to the hard work of a charity based in Belarus and the United Kingdom, the headstones will be given the respect they deserve as part of a new memorial on the site.
