When I was a sheltered child, “Sesame Street,” soon to stream on Netflix, made racial diversity and kindness look like the way the rest of the world worked.

The children's series has found a new streaming home — Netflix, PBS stations and PBS KIDS will air new episodes on the same day. And Netflix will also run 90 hours from the Sesame Street library.

“Sesame Street,” the 56-year-old institution of children’s television, has signed a new distribution deal with Netflix, as well as a separate deal with PBS, the show announced on Monday.
