Air India confirmed that flight AI171 from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to London Gatwick took off on June 12, 2025, at 1:38 p.m. local time.
The plane crashed in the Meghaninagar area near the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around 2 pm. Airport operations in the city were temporarily suspended.
