The technology is already being used in other cities, such as Pasadena. But Victorville is the first city in San Bernardino County to use the technology.

The new shelter will be in the city of Highland, which was within the top eight cities in San Bernardino County with the highest homeless population, according to the 2024 count.

History has been made in Laguna Woods, as the city has its first ever all-female City Council. The members of the new council stand inside City Hall on Dec. 11, 2024, after the swearing-in ceremony.
