Queen Camilla visited the Royal Lancers for the first time as Colonel-in-Chief, paying tribute to the regiment her father belonged to and wearing a special brooch that belonged to Queen Elizabeth.

Camilla, 76, inspected the troop at in Catterick, North Yorkshire. She became Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Lancers last June, it was a role last held by the late Queen Elizabeth II .
Queen Camilla’s father, late Major Bruce Shand, served with the 12th Lancers during World War II, winning the Military Cross during the retreat to Dunkirk in 1940 and again at El Alamein in 1942.
